On the Mend

The kids are doing a lot better. Elinor has a terrible nasty cough.. but each day she sounds better. I have been busy this evening preparing all of the baby food in advance for my weekend away. I also wrote up a schedule. I somehow got my in-laws to agree to come out while I was away. It's not that I don't think Andy can do it alone... but if you don't have to then why do it. The help will be nice for him.
Sitting back with a cup of hot chocolate (I don't care if it was 70 degrees out today) and uploading a bunch of overdue photos. Have you ever used Picnik.com? I love it. So fun. I wish I had all the time in the world to be creative. Picnik helps you be a better photographer.
Here are a few good ones:

CAN YOU STAND IT?

Yes, two pics of Elinor. Because she is just that cute when she smiles.

Apologies

So sorry for the lapse in posting.
The kiddos have been sick. Drake and Ben have been sick. We had planned a nice 4 day weekend trip to Milwaukee but had to cancel at the last minute because of Drake's pneumonia. I wanted to be selfish and just go... but then I had to stop and think like a responsible mother and make the choice (with Andy)that it was better if we did not expose the twins to pneumonia. They have had terrible colds. Today Ellie was so inconsolable that I finally decided to pack the kids up and take them to the walk in clinic. No ear aches, no fever, no respiratory problems - very relieved.
John will definately be crawling before the end of the week. He is on his knees and rocking every chance he gets... on the floor, on the bed, in the crib.. and always with that grin of his.
They are really great kids.
We have progressed onto Cheerios and yogurt eating. The Cheerios aren't really making in to the mouths (except Lloyd's)... but it keeps them so busy and quiet. I ran out and got the extra large box today... and you know how I hate to buy expensive cereal... but it will be worth it.
I will be away next weekend for Kell's mom's memorial service. I am so sad to be leaving the kids for 2 nights... but I know Andy will take such good care of them in my absence. They loooove their Daddy! Ellie is definitely a Daddy's girl.
Have a good week.
I'll try to get some pics or a video posted soon.

Spring has Sprung

Good-bye Snow. I will miss you terribly. No one loves you like I love you. So long nice wool hats, especially the ones with ear flaps. So long comfy fleece. Nice to know you baby buntings. I will be counting the days until you arrive once again - especially during the hot dog days of Summer.

Spring is here! Hello long walks outsivde. Hello bicycle (the one I have not been on since before I was pregnant in 2008). Greetings and salutations to t-shirts and flip-flops. Please be good to me and Welcome to 2010.

Headaches and Sunny Days

I have a headache the size of Texas today. It started in the middle of the night. Do you ever get a headache like that- The kind that aches while you sleep? Anyways, this is how the night/morning went:
John kept waking throughout the night on his belly, frustrated and crying and awake. I finally picked him up after about the third time and took him into the spare bedroom with me. Funny, how he never rolled onto his belly when he was snuggling with Mama. I got up at 5:30 and got myself ready for work. By 6am, both babies were being fed bottles. We changed diapers. I went to have a bowl of cereal and there was only about a ¼ cup left… so then I had to supplement with some whole grain toast. Then I dressed both babies. Meanwhile, Andy had to go out and work on the Scion battery because it was dead (damn Toyota. That car is only 2 years old and should not have a dead battery). Then I fed breakfast to both babies at 7am. Then I packed the diaper bag and my bag. I put the babies in their car seats. I grabbed my set of keys (or so I thought) and left the house. I got to work and couldn’t get in the building because apparently I had grabbed Andy’s set of work keys.
Did I mention the headache?????

The kids and I were rockin’ in the City Mini yesterday. I should have taken a picture of them in it.

It was a beautiful day. We took Lloyd for an hour walk. The pup was so tired, he had to lay down in the snow during the walk. The stroller is totally awesome.. so light, easy to steer and maneuver. I love it.

John's Sleep Patterns

I seem to be having a bit or trouble with John in the crib. He woke around 2:30am and played in his crib for about an hour. I found him all over the place. So this morning I decided to photograph him as he was "settling" down for a nap. He just cracks me up.
The pictures were taken over approximately 15 minutes. I finally had to put him back to starting point in picture one. He is finally sleeping after about an hour.

Do you think he looks like he's ready for a nap?

Random

Here’s a couple of pictures of the kids upon waking in the morning. I don’t know if you can tell, but John John has completely flipped himself in the opposite direction. Elinor has John’s pajamas on because all of her jammies were still in the laundry.
We received a huge box of goodies from Aunt Leslie over the weekend. It was a bunch of clothes for John that baby Drake has outgrown. I love going through each piece of clothing and imagining baby Drake in each outfit and then Ben before him. They grow so fast. I miss those little guys (and parents) so much. Fortunately, we are taking a weekend trip at the end of March.
I think for traveling I am either going to buy or make these.

The babies had their first taste of nectarines yesterday morning. They gave me funny faces at first and then I couldn’t spoon it fast enough into their mouths.
