I wish I could do this

I would love to just crash in the middle of the day like this. It's not that I couldn't actually fall asleep, it's just that I don't have the opportunity.  Give that kid his "lovey" and he surely could fall asleep anywhere.
We took the kids to an out of town shopping mall today to get some last items for our trip to Florida.... 10 more days.  The day seemed to be going along well until we stopped at the food court for lunch.  Andy waited in line for food while I got the kids situated in highchairs.  John began to have a  meltdown.  Oh dear lord.  Andy could see me struggling from afar and ran back with the food.  He had to run back for the remaining food and I tried to give some food to Elinor, meanwhile John was hanging out of his chair screaming, Elinor tossed the food on the floor and everyone was staring.  I am sure they thought it was my first day with twins.  But that wasn't it.  Elinor had a melt down after lunch. She screamed and screamed.  I could not calm her down. Finally I took off her sneakers and she immediately was at peace. Stupid sneakers.  I don't even know if there is something wrong with them, but I am never ever putting those sneakers on her feet ever again. Ever.
Poor sweet babies.

... And I know today was just a prelude to our travel day.

First Haircut

Just shy of being a 20 month old and John John finally gets a haircut.  We waited long enough.
  The time had come.

before

He was a perfect boy in the salon chair.  He didn't cry... but I did a little.  Gosh, they grow up so fast!

after

Now we are ready for the beach.  Vacation begins in 18 days.  Woohoo!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The Guinness Beef stew was assembled in the crockpot early this morning.  However, I run in to the same problem every time I make it.  The recipe always calls for only 1 cup of stout.  What's a girl to do with the rest of the bottle at 7 am in the  morning????  So, bit of stout to the stew and bit of stout to me.  Okay... don't worry, I don't make a habit of this.  It was just 4 oz.
The kids may not have had cute green outfits on today... but what they did have was some very green French toast shamrocks...

Looks much tastier in person.

Have a great day!

Team Work

Oh... this doesn't happen very often.  But when it does, it is just so lovely.

This team work with the block building continued on for about 10 minutes which is about the equivalent of three hours adult time.

Another Snowy Day

We received about 5 inches of snow today. The last time I checked it was March.  I love the snow.  Really.   If it weren't for my kids I would secretly wish that we had it all year round.  But the kids are getting stir crazy.  It's time to get them outside.  To the park.  In the grass.  In the kiddie pool.
Lately, John has been waking up from afternoon naps and crying for forever.  He doesn't want anything.  He doesn't want up. He doesn't want down. He doesn't want a snack. Wait, yes he does. Nope, he really doesn't. Uugh!!!!  What does the crying mean?  It's not like it wasn't a quality nap.  Today's nap was 3 hours.

Oh, which reminds me.  After I put the kids in their cribs, I found John dangling over the edge  and screaming.  Note to self: must find a way to keep a climber in the crib.
26 days until our trip South.  I still need to find a dress to wear to the wedding.  Tomorrow is my big shopping day... without kids.  It's tomorrow or never.

Dog Tired

I love when they get so tired that they fall asleep while eating....
