NJ or Bust

We are on our way to New Jersey this evening. I am hoping the kiddos sleep most of the time since we are driving at night. Oh keep your fingers crossed that when we finally get there, after midnight, that they will transition from car seat to cribs. We are going to visit our Aunt Rosemary & Uncle John and staying at my cousin Rosemary’s house in Denville. Auntie has not always lived in Denville. This will be my first time that I see her current house.
When I think of Denville, I always think of Denville Dairy. I remember going there as a kid and waiting in the long line just for an ice cream cone. I suppose the place doesn’t look the same as I remember it from way back when.
Looking forward to visiting with family and having them meet the twins. However, we will miss our Lloydie as he is not able to make this trip with us. Lloyd will be staying with Janice and her brood. He always has a good time when he is there.

A boy and his friend

We have had sick twins here the past few days.  Elinor has had a fever everyday.. unexplained.  We took her to the pediatrician on Friday, but there were no evident signs of a viral infection.  If it's not gone by Monday we are calling the doctor again.
While Elinor gets clingy when she is sick.. John John gets unbearable.  He is whiny.. won't go to sleep.. and is inconsolable at times.. plus he is into sticking his fingers in his mouth until he gags himself. Oh brother.

However, I did manage to catch a glimpse of this bit of silliness...

Okay.. so you are missing out because the really cute video of John and Lloydie is having trouble uploading.  Darn.

Sleeping John

Oh boy.... John John had a doozy of a night terror last evening.  It started at 9:43 pm.. sort of late.  The scream just stabs me in the chest so I cannot breathe.  His legs and entire body get very tense and he doesn't open his eyes.. he just screems.  It lasted about 10 minutes and once it is over he sleeps so peacefully.
This is what John looks like when he is sleeping so very peacefully....

12 month stats

We met up with Pattie and Abigail on Sunday to do a little picnic.  It was a quick visit since Elinor did not nap on the way there and then absolutely fussed because she was missing her afternoon nap.  What can I say? My twins like their schedule.

Elinor:

18 lbs 4 oz.
28.75 inches
She is not walking yet, but we expect her to do so within another month. She was a month behind John in crawling. She jibber jabbers from morning until night. She is head strong and has a will of her own. She is sweet. Her smile lights up the room. She has 7 teeth. Elinor is snuggly, likes to be rocked and gives really wet kisses. She has a silly giggle. Her heart breaks easily – especially when John takes a toy from her or when I leave her in her crib awake. She has been a bit challenging at bedtime. Her hair is out of control!

John:

21 lbs 9 oz.
30.25 inches
John cruises around by foot. He jibber jabbers quite a bit. John likes to sing to the music. He has such a pretty voice. John is devilish but can get away with everything with his smile. He has 12 teeth, I think. John has a temper – he arches his back when he gets mad. He is usually first to wake from naps and in the morning. His voice is low. John is getting quite attached to his Daddy and likes to be held so he can see what’s going on.

Both babies, ahem – I mean toddlers, love food – any kind. They especially love their fruit. I haven’t found a food they have not liked. Wait, that’s not true..they are not crazy about eggs.

The doctor is happy with their overall development except for their speech. Neither child has used MaMa or DaDa or any other real words. I know they know what the other one is saying but I don’t know what they are saying. They crack each other up. They have really started to play with each other. Sometimes I catch them chasing each other from room to room.

I can’t wait to see what this next year brings….

Numero Uno Birthday photos

The day was a success!  As I am reminded by my husband "the imperfections of the day made the day perfect".  And so it was.

Oh Elinor, don't do it.
Ouch!  I don't want any cake now.
More cake for me.

We are very lucky people to have such wonderful babies.  I sometimes find myself just watching them and wonder, "Are they really mine?".  We love them so much.... and I think they like us a little too.

Birthday Morning

Aahhhhh.... we survived the first year.  Looking back it wasn't really that bad (except for the first 12 weeks).  Happy Birthday to John John and Ellie!  May every year be as  blessed as the first.  We love you to the ends of the earth and back.

We are taking a trip to the zoo today.  I will post more pictures later.

Some Pics

Aunt Pat requested some recent pics of the twinkies.  I seemed to be a bit lax in the blogging department. Busy???? Just a tad bit.... as always.
