Please Don't Judge Me

I got lazy and bought jars of baby food for our travels today.  How quick and easy meal planning must be when all you have to do is go to the cupboard and open a jar.   I think that it might be okay to supplement with some of these jars now and again.
We are off to Boston for the weekend.  Please keep your fingers crossed that the babies (and parents) hold it together.  Our flight is at 7:30.  I am hoping they sleep on the plane.  Are you all laughing at me because you have some experience with flying with babies?  Do they or don’t they sleep on a plane?  Plus on top of all that, Elinor has a right ear infection. I certainly hope it doesn’t bother her.  I am packing ear plugs for the folks around us.
Back on Sunday.
Lloydie is off to his doggie motel.  He gets to play with other dogs there.  He will be absolutely exhausted when we pick him up on Sunday.

9 months old

The kids had their 9 month checkup.  I took them to the appointment all by myself.  I had them in the CityMini and I didn't realize before it was too late that the CityMini does not fit through the exam room doorways.  It was such a feat..lifting them out, placing them on the floor, collapsing the stroller, setting it back up, strapping the kids back it, etc...  I had to get them both undressed.  And where did they go?  You guessed it.  Back in the stroller while we waited for the pediatrician.

I guess John needed to stretch out his hamstrings.

The Stats
Elinor:
Weight:  16lbs 3 oz
Height:   27.5 inches
Head :    45 cm

John:
Weight:  19lbs 8.5 oz
Height:   29 inches
Head:    49cm

John is in the 75th percentile for his height.  My babies are as chubby as they are going to get.

John is crawling and pulling up to a stand position. Elinor has yet to get herself into a sitting position yet.  She does not crawl.  Her mode of transportation is to shimmy and slither across the floor with a couple of rolls in the direction she wants to go.
They have both mastered picking up foods with a pincer grasp.
They both laugh spontaneously, at Lloyd, at their parents and at each other.
They sleep about 11 hours per night with one morning nap and one afternoon nap.
They love music. They love to clap their hands.  They are great eaters - they're favorites are bananas, pears, peas and cauliflower.

I have said it before and I'll say it again:  We are very very blessed to have  wonderful happy and healthy twin babies.

Home again, home again

Back in Huron on Tuesday evening and Andy came home late Wednesday night. What a relief to have my whole family together and home once again. This mama does not like to have her husband in one place when the rest of us are in another. The kids were elated to see their Daddy once again. They grinned from ear to ear. Even Lloyd is like a new dog since Andy came home.
A busy weekend is ahead. I signed up for the citywide Baby Garage Sale… which I am not ready for. I have about 5-6 bins of baby clothes to sell. I don’t have anything organized or priced. I don’t have any folding tables or clothes rack. I am completely out of my element when it comes to this stuff. I am just going to have to “wing” it and see what happens. I am having a bunch of anxiety about it which is quite ridiculous. It’s just a sale. What do I have to lose? Absolutely nothing.
Next week we leave for Boston. We already had this trip scheduled. Much packing and organizing to do. I am not sure how to pack for the kids especially since I make their food. So, do I need to pack food containers? Then I will need to pack formula and baby cereal somewhere in the suitcase. Somehow I will figure it all out.
Cute picture of John John….

On another note:
Have you ever sat at a cubicle working away on something on the computer then to find that someone is standing over your shoulder?  I absolutely detest that.  I find it rude and I find the person to be quite nosy.  Why not just announce yourself?
It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode... "Sidle the Sidler".   Perhaps I should get  myself a pair of wrestling shoes (as Elaine did) and "Sidle the Sidler".

Mom's Day

I decided to spend a few more days at my sister Pat's house in Jamestown.  The twins, Lloyd and I hopped in the car and drove out Friday night.  Andy's Nana passed away on Saturday with all of her family around her.  She was waiting until her eldest son, Andy's father, arrived.  She was a strong, determined woman.  We loved her and we are so sad that the kids won't meet her.  Andy is staying in Boston until Wednesday for the funeral... that's why I am at Pat's.  The kids have been sick. They have not been napping great or sleeping at night very well.  I am exhausted.
But here's a happy picture taken on Mother's Day. I am very blessed to have the best babies in the world.   love them so!

Something new

I caught John standing up in the crib... I would have grabbed the picture, but I was afraid he was going to take a leap out.  So, I had to deconstruct the crib so I could lower the mattress.  Oh, he is still standing in it... however, his upper body does not surpass the top rail now.  Oh my god!

Andy is on his way to the airport as I type this.  Nana is not well - so we got him on a flight to Boston.  We are very sad because we had a trip all planned 2 weeks from now so that Nana could meet the twins.  We never expected this to happen.   Please keep Nana and Andy's family in your prayers.  I just hope that Nana is aware of Andy's presence by the time he gets there.

In the Night

This is what the kids look like when they are sleeping.  The positions they end up in are sometimes quite funny.

Where did the Weekend Go?

The weekend flew by for sure. Things I remember about it in no particular order:

Shopping and lunch with Kirsten at Crocker Park

Friday night salad & wings (great combo by the way) and wine & beer with the neighbors.

*Installing new stainless steel dishwasher (running back and forth to the hardware store). John helped Andy.

Super fun twins.

John falling asleep while having dinner.

Elinor being so independent.

Babysitter and adult time on Saturday night.

Cleaning the garage for new organization system.

Family walk.

Sunday evening fire with Andy.

* I love the new dishwasher. I ran it for the first time Sunday evening. Every dish comes out sparkling. I will never have to re-wash a dish again. Time-saver for me and energy saver for the environment… plus less water useage. Yay!
Next: new stove, refrigerator and microwave; paint kitchen cupboards, new hardware, countertops, sink, faucet, counters and backsplash…
